Dubai Humanitarian City
The Dubai Humanitarian City (DHC), launched on September 8, 2003
is an initiative focused on facilitating humanitarian efforts on a global platform.
The DHC, first of its kind, envisions a single stage from which humanitarian organizations
can launch their efforts in an apolitical environment, solely focused on providing
assistance to nations in need. The potential of developing a new humanitarian network
between United Nation agencies, Independent International Organizations, Government
Development Departments and Non-Government entities working for the betterment of
a global community, is immense.
In effect, the goal is to perpetuate networking between the world's most active
humanitarian organizations, by providing logistical, operational and facilitative
support services. Furthermore, the presence of such organizations under the same
roof, allows for optimal coordination to address global emergencies and other relief
efforts in a manner never available before. Organizations responding to humanitarian
emergencies can exclusively focus on improving efficiency, as DHC is designed to
facilitate effective implementation, for both short and long term humanitarian commitments.

Dubai Mercantile Exchange
The DME is to have a trading floor and clearing house as well as
training institutions and NYMEX which will offer top UAE candidates internship in
New York. The Authority's plans for DME involve creating a platform from which the
entire Middle East can participate in the commodities value chain. The DME has come
in a time where the Middle East, home to 65% of the world's crude oil and 40% of
the world's natural gas reserve, is one of the world's major trading hubs without
a commodity exchange. DME will enable the region to become a serious player in the
world's energy and commodities markets and will provide a mechanism for managing
risk in a regulated and well structured environment.
